nvidia 5xxx leaked vram

Everybody is eagerly waiting for new laptop graphics cards from Nvidia, and we finally have some leaked information.

This information comes from Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID) and it brings information about the VRAM amount on these upcoming cards.

GeForce 5xxx series and VRAM, here’s what we know

This was reported by TechRadar, and according to them, this information comes from MLID, a reliable leaker on YouTube.

The flagship model is expected to be RTX 5090, and it will keep the same configuration as RTX 4090, which means 16GB of VRAM and a 256-bit memory bus. That’s unfortunate if true since many were expecting an upgrade in the VRAM department.

Next on the list is allegedly RTX 5080, and it will feature 16GB of VRAM and a 256-bit memory bus. This is an upgrade from the previous generation as RTX 4080 had less VRAM.

Rumors also claim that the RTX 5080 will use a GB203 chip, the same as the RTX 5090, so we might see some exceptional performance. This might mean that the alleged 5080 is actually a 5080 Ti.

The third card should be RTX 5070, or RTX 5080 if there’s a Ti version of 5080. Regardless of the model’s name, it will have 12GB of RAM, which is an improvement over the 4070 that only had 8GB VRAM.

The last model is expected to be RTX 5060 and it will have only 8GB of RAM which is disappointing. In terms of VRAM, both flagship and entry-level kept the same amount of memory, while the mid-range models upgraded it.

Do keep in mind that this is just leaked information, albeit from a reliable source, and there’s no official confirmation. As for availability, these cards are expected to be released in early 2025, around March.

In other news, new laptops from ASUS will run on NVIDIA RTX 40 GPUs. Regarding other projects, NVIDIA is working with Japan on a quantum supercomputer.
