The Xbox team is rolling a new update for the Xbox One OS today. The 1711 update brings a couple of new features that have been successfully tested with Xbox Insiders including cloud settings backup, idle notifications, more granular parental controls and more. Additionally, this update fixes the blu-ray issues that some users have been experiencing recently.
Some features introduced in Oct rolling out for all #Xbox One owners starting today: Club blocks, Xbox Live Gold & Game Pass in Guide, new idle notifications, hide games with no unlocked Achievements, cloud settings backup, improved parental controls https://t.co/SPVkHOE5st

In a separate tweet, Xbox Preview Program Manager Brad Rossetti shared that the update was optional for now, though you can download it right now by going into Settings > System > Updates. It’s not clear why Microsoft isn’t pushing this update to everyone for now, but the changelog mentions some know issues for Narrator, Avatars on Home and Xbox Live Tournaments.
Xbox One Insiders – Thanks for all your testing and bug reporting. We shipped 1711 globally to all consoles this am at 8.00am as optional to download. Keep reporting issues as we are all still working!

In case you missed, the Xbox team also enabled digital game gifting on the Microsoft Store earlier this week, and you don’t need to install this update to use this feature. As the redesigned Xbox Live avatars have now been delayed to early 2018, it remains to be seen if the Xbox One will get another system update before the end of the year.
Have you already installed this latest update on your Xbox One? If so, let us know in the comments if you’re having any issues after proceeding.
