Microsoft is reportedly working on a significant update to its Xbox app for PC, aiming to transform it into a universal launcher for all installed games. This development could simplify the gaming experience for PC users by consolidating games from various platforms, such as Steam and the Epic Games Store, into a single interface.

The speculation arose after an intriguing image published by The Verge showcasing the Xbox app’s user interface with a Steam button placed alongside Game Pass. Although Microsoft quickly replaced the image, sources suggest that the company is exploring the possibility of integrating all PC games into the Xbox app.

This feature would mirror the functionality of third-party launchers like Playnite and GOG Galaxy, which already offer similar capabilities.

Currently, the project is allegedly in its early stages, and there is no guarantee that it will make it to the final version of the Xbox app. However, if successful, this update could streamline game management for PC gamers, eliminating the need to juggle multiple launchers.
