For the past couple of years, smartphone hardware manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, HTC and Nokia have combined their meticulous camera lens designs with advanced software manipulation to produce eye-popping images for everyday consumers.

However, as cloud computing becomes more ubiquitous and abundant, customers should begin to see a similar level of software manipulation trickling down to app developers who don’t have access to the direct hardware but can still produce incredible works of art.

Magic Effects aren’t the only new thing coming to PicsArt for Windows. Windows users can also partake in the new Challenges page being added. Challenges promises to offer a mishmash of community voting, holiday-themed drawing competitions and editing comparisons for users.

Last but not least in the announcement list for today’s update is the new filter photo effect called Off Grid. Off Grid adds a retro tiling effect to images that help punch up photos and expand users creativity.
