The hit video game, Far Cry 6, will be free to play on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X console generations for all Xbox Gold Live subscribers from tomorrow, August 4th, through to the end of Sunday, August 7th.

Far Cry 6 came out just last year and was met with generally positive reactions from both players and video game critics.

Here’s Far Cry 6’s official game description and trailer:

Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Antón Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their oppressive rule has ignited a revolution.

  • Play as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran, as you fight alongside a modern-day guerrilla revolution to liberate Yara!
  • Fight against Castillo’s regime in the most expansive Far Cry® to date, through jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara.
  • Employ an arsenal of resolver weapons, backpacks, and vehicles to take down Castillo’s ruthless regime.

Far Cry 6 will likely be joined by a couple of other free-play Xbox video games on Friday night for the usual Free Play Days weekend promotion. We’ll report on those as soon as they’re announced so make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay in the loop.

Update: The other Free Play games have now been confirmed.
