Recent Netmarketshare numbers show that Edge, while still far behind Chrome, IE, and even Firefox, is picking up a tiniest bit of steam, having risen to its latest share numbers of 5.48%, according to the analytics (this for Desktop Top Browser Share Trend):

Microsoft’s move away from the legacy Internet Explorer and all the baggage it brings with it hasn’t done much for keeping browser market share in house, though, as more and more people switch to Chrome as their browser of choice.

Microsoft continues to make advances with Edge, including improvements coming with the Windows 10 Creators Update, and the browser is an integral part of Windows 10, powering far more than just web browsing.

But as a web browser, usage of Edge has been disappointing, to say the least.

If anything, Microsoft’s move away from the once dominant Internet Explorer has only strengthened Google Chrome’s position in the market, but is there hope for a resurgence in Edge market share, perhaps with the Creators Update release this spring?
