Some lucky journalists had the chance to test the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite laptops. Based on their affirmations, they were pleasantly surprised by the capabilities of the demo laptops. Thus, some used it for content creation software. To test its capabilities, they edited videos in 4K using Blackmagic Davinci Resolve and rendered text to images in OpenVino. Additionally, they were happy with the results of the new laptop.
During the Snapdragon X Elite event, another journalist had the chance to check out the laptop’s gaming performance. In addition, by attending the event, people could check the device’s specifications. After all, even if there are many benchmark results, they don’t specify the exact characteristics used.
Snapdragon X Elite laptops are great AI powerhouses
According to the journalists from Laptop Mag, the Snapdragon X Elite laptop features 32GB RAM and a 2.8K 120Hz screen. Each one of the demo devices showcased during the event had a specific task. Some were for gaming, others for editing, and some ran benchmarks. Yet, they are all running their tasks flawlessly.
If you are a content creator or editor and have a Macbook, the Snapdragon X Elite might be your next device. After all, it is more proficient than the Pro M3 and some versions of MacBook Air. Also, with it, you can edit videos smoothly in 4K using the Blackmagic Davinci Resolve tool. On top of that, compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7, it delivers a smoother experience.
The demo Snapdragon laptop easily handles tasks other devices struggle with, such as masking, audio editing, color grading, and frame-by-frame scrubbing.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite laptops ran Baldur’s Gate III, Control, and Redout II on 1080p. According to Madeline Ricchiuto, the games run smoothly on the demo devices. Additionally, there were no frame drops during gameplay, especially on BG III during encounters. Yet, the chips are not for ray tracing. So, you might feel the absence of ray-tracing effects.
Ultimately, the Snapdragon X Elite laptops are powerful AI PCs. Thus, their performance and great speed in editing content show how far this technology has progressed. However, compared to the demos, the devices featuring the Snapdragon X Elite chips might have a lower performance based on their specifications. Yet, the laptops with similar specs might perform the same.
