Quantum Break rummored to be delayed until early 2016

There may be bad news on the horizon for those few remaining Quantum Break fans out there. There are rumors claiming the game is getting yet another push back. This time the studio, Remedy, is said to be looking for an “early 2016” release for the game. While the game has technically had no real release date, and these are still rumors, it does seem that this game is taking much longer than usual to be released.

It’s becoming a common strategy for companies to tease products before their launch. Take for example, the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailers and imagery that began to spring up as early as summer/fall of last year. Slowly, the public has been doled out snippets of info, footage, and interviews from the cast and crews, all in effort to whet its audiences appetite and vacuum the air out of the room for its competitors. Another is in the tangential market of video games. Much like Hollywood blockbusters or indie movies, there are seasons and conventions where game developers get a chance to tease their audience with something new.

Where movies and video games tend to differ are in their delivery. It seems more recently in this “new” console generation game developers are doing a lot more teasing and lot less delivering. Enter Remedy Studios’ Quantum Break console game. Back in 2013 the Xbox One team (many of which are no longer there) trotted out the entertainment-melding game experience at the consoles big reveal.

With promises of network production-like content to coincide with original storytelling and creative time lapsing game play, Quantum Break appeared to be the bar at which “next-gen” consoles would be judged. Fast forward to March 2015 and the game has yet to make an appearance in any form other than sizzle reels for gaming conventions. Remedy has offered no confirmations on a release date or even a projected release time for this game.  According to Dae Jim, the Dutch Community and Social Media Coordinator for Microsoft, the game may be seeing yet another perceived delay that will have the game hopefully appearing in early 2016.

Quantum Break rumored to be delayed until early 2016

While rumors about the delay may be frustrating for the few who still care about this game, let’s just hope that with an almost 3 year lead in, we’ll at least by pass the dreaded ‘day one update’ that is also becoming another common place occurrences with this “next-gen” console craze.

That particular Twitter piece looks to have been removed, but Dae’s stance on the delay remains as he fields questions on his Twitter profile. Dae is also back-peddling on what he initially said, claiming that what he said (the game will be released in early 2016) was just a rumor. Well, you be the judge — we actually hope the game isn’t delayed and that Microsoft reveals more information about it in the near future.

The whole point of this article isn’t to determine the validity of what Dae stated, rather to state the obvious — promising a title that will be a game changer only for us to continue waiting and waiting and waiting.
