Redesigned Xbox app launches in beta on iOS with Remote Play support

Microsoft has released today a new Xbox beta on iOS, which follows the release of a similar app on Android earlier this week. These new Xbox apps introduce a revamped design language inspired by the Xbox Game Pass app for mobile, as well as the ability to install any games remotely, to set up new consoles and queue games, and to share game clips and screenshots right from your phone

The biggest new feature in this Xbox beta app is Xbox remote play, which allows iOS and Android users to play any games installed on their Xbox One console when it’s on or configured with the Instant-on standby mode. The fact that this feature is available on the iOS beta app is quite interesting, especially since Microsoft has been unable to bring its Project xCloud game streaming service to iOS devices so far.

Unfortunately, Apple’s Testflight app only accepts up to 10,000 beta testers for a single app, and as of this writing, the beta for the Xbox app is full. Inactive testers are removed from the program from time to time, so you may want to bookmark this link in case new seats are freed up.
