Samsung has just introduced the new One UI 6.1.1 update, specifically for its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6. This change will revolutionize how you use your mobile device with a Windows PC, allowing you to stream apps from your phone to your computer screen.
In the past, Android smartphone users could link their devices to Windows PCs using Microsoft’s Phone Link app. However, there was a slight problem when Android 14 came out. People had to tap the button many times for streaming apps, which became slightly inconvenient.
According to the latest reports, the One UI 6.1.1 update removes the repeating step, making the streaming process smoother and more accessible. You still have to unlock your phone for security purposes, but this little tweak makes a big difference.
The One UI 6.1.1 update also involves changing how app sideloading is managed. The new software blocks this capability on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, preventing the installation of apps from sources other than the Google Play Store as its default setting.
However, if you enjoy installing apps outside this official storehouse, you can quickly turn off this function.
Only the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 models can have the One UI 6.1.1 update. Tech circles talk about this update being later given to older Samsung Galaxy phones, but reports say its release could be delayed indefinitely. Also, there are possible delays for the open beta of Samsung’s One UI 7 update, built on Android 15.
Samsung’s new software update creates a smoother connection between Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 smartphones with Windows PCs. Significant improvements include not having to push “start now” for app streaming and the default block on app sideloading (which can be easily turned off).
Right now, the update is only available for these two Samsung models. Still, many people are excitedly waiting for it to come to their older models and hoping they will eventually get One UI 7.
Speaking of seamless connectivity between PCs and Android devices, Microsoft also made it easier to connect in just a few seconds with a new capability released with the latest Insider Build to the Dev Channel.
