When it comes to Sea of Thieves, an exciting action-adventure title, the bar is never too high. The game is improving with each update and adding more players. And recently, Sea of Thieves crossed the 40 million user mark on Xbox, PC, and Steam.
As confirmed by the team in a blog post and on X (formerly Twitter), the game reached the 40 million user milestone, and we will soon have Season 12 of Sea of Thieves, along with the introduction of a wide array of new pirates.
On this occasion, Executive Producer Joe Neate also highlighted the contributions of the team,
I also want to take this opportunity to offer heartfelt thanks to the team, who’ve worked so hard to deliver over a hundred free updates since launch and have plenty more excitement and innovation on the horizon.
Sea of Thieves is yet to release on PlayStation
With the game still in the pre-order phase on PlayStation, the 40 million user base is limited to Xbox, PC, and Steam. The PlayStation 5 release on April 30, 2024, is expected to significantly boost the numbers, given Sea of Thieves is the top pre-ordered game on the console.
So, you might soon see the Sea of Thieves team reaching the next 50 million players milestone.
Besides, the sales of Sea of Thieves on PlayStation will be keenly observed as it affects Microsoft’s decision to bring more Xbox titles to PS.
When released on Steam in June’20, Sea of Thieves received a massive response from users and, within days, became the global top seller. And a similar response is expected on PlayStation 5.
