Microsoft has just revealed their Games with Gold games for September and there’s some good ones that are well worth a look.
The most noteworthy of the free games is the fantastic, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for Xbox One which will be available between September 16th and October 15th. Not only did this game reboot the popular Tomb Raider franchise for modern consoles but it’s also a superbly solid game in general and is a must-play for any Xbox One console owners who haven’t tried it yet.

The much smaller Xbox One game, The Deer God, will be available for free download for the entire month of September. Deer God is described by its developers as “an existential pixel art game” and should appeal to gamers who are after something a bit more alternative.

On the Xbox 360 front, Battlestations Pacific will be available for the first half of September and Crysis 3 for the second half. Microsoft changed the way in which Games with Gold work for Xbox 360 users earlier this year and now allows Xbox 360 owners to also add the Xbox One Games with Gold games to their game libraries even though they are currently unable to play them on their last gen consoles. The logic obviously being that having a lot of Xbox One games will encourage more Xbox 360 users to upgrade to the current gen console while also adding value to the Games with Gold program.

In a similar fashion, Xbox One Gold Members can also grab the Xbox 360 free Games with Gold via the Xbox website (not currently available via the console or SmartGlass app unfortunately) and add them to their library as well.
Thanks to the recently announced Xbox One backwards compatibility feature, many of the previously claimed Xbox 360 games will soon be playable on the Xbox One and all of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold games released for the rest of 2015 have been confirmed to be playable on Xbox One consoles once backwards compatibility launches, essentially giving Xbox One owners four free games a month.
Which of these games will you be playing in September? Let us know in the comments below.
