How do I log out from the Signal Desktop app?

Before we start, we have to mention that Signal Desktop doesn’t have a logout option, however, there are a few workarounds you can use.

1. Create a new user account and install Signal there

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accounts and then select Other users.

  3. Select Add other user and then Add account.

  4. Select Add a user without a Microsoft account.

  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish the process.
  6. Once done, log out and switch to the new account.
  7. Pair Signal with a new phone number.

Now when you switch accounts you’ll “log out” of Signal.

  1. Open Signal Desktop and go to File and choose Settings.
  2. Choose Privacy and then select Delete Data.

  3. Now you’ll be signed out of Signal.
  4. If you want to use it again, you’ll need to go through the linking process again.

According to Signal developers, even if you unlink your PC, your messages will remain as long as you link it with the same phone number.
