Key notes

  • Qualcomm will soon launch its very own closed ecosystem feature called Snapdragon Seamless.
  • It's not the first and only AI-centered product or feature that the tech maker is working on.
  • They're set to launch Qualcomm S7 and S7 Pro Gen1 Sound Platforms, alongside Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

We’ve exclusively reported that Qualcomm will soon launch its very own closed ecosystem feature called Snapdragon Seamless, and from the look of it, we may be in for a game-changing feature that could be a lifesaver.

In fact, this new tech has the potential to be even better than Phone Link on Windows devices and what Microsoft and Samsung are doing together with Galaxy phones.

Why? Well, a lot of Android devices are using Snapdragon. In fact, Qualcomm says that Snapdragon Seamless will roll out on those devices (even AR glasses!) running Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, X Elite, S7 pro sound platform Gen 1, and AR2 Gen 1, from multiple Android-based manufacturers like Microsoft, Google, Oppo, Honor, Dell, and Lenovo.

With so many crossovers between devices happening all at once, it’d be a waste if Qualcomm doesn’t bring continuity features into Snapdragon Seamless. This feature will allow you to continue tasks that you are working on on one device on another device — just like how Apple devices have the same feature.

For example, if you are working on a document on one device, like a Windows laptop, you could then pick up your Android phone and continue working on the same file without having to start over.

Interestingly, the tech maker also said in a leaked official document that they’re set to launch Qualcomm S7 and S7 Pro Gen1 Sound Platforms. Designed for earbuds, headphones, and speakers, these platforms are said to be powered by on-device AI with support for up to 192kHz lossless music quality.

So, maybe, with a lot of smart speakers and high-tech Bluetooth car kits coming soon, it’ll be interesting how Seamless and this audiophile-friendly feature are working together.

The upcoming Snapdragon X Elite, which we’ve exclusively reported, is also one to watch out for. Releasing mid-2024, these new chipset has generative AI models with over 13 billion parameters on-device with better battery life and faster performance.

Then, we have the hotly-anticipated AI assistant tool, Copilot in Windows. Taking into account that Qualcomm has been deep into AI works with these recent products on features, there’s a high chance that these two will come together.

How? Well, say you have a file that needs to be shared from your phone to the laptop cause you need to create a summary of it. You can share it with Seamless, and then ask Copilot in Word to summarize it for you.

Aren’t we all excited about this? Do share your thoughts in the comments!
