As of today we can officially say that Starfield comes out next month! With that September 6 release date now just weeks away, the wait is more agonizing than ever for fans. And we now know that Starfield will take advantage of an underrated Xbox feature: that being Xbox Play Anywhere.
This feature allows users to “Purchase an Xbox Play Anywhere digital game, play it on Xbox and Windows 10/11 PC at no additional cost.” Xbox Play Anywhere also includes cross-saves across platforms, so your game progress goes with you whether on Xbox or Windows.
OFFICIAL: Starfield has added Xbox Play Anywhere to its store page ????
This means that if you buy it digitally you will own it on both Xbox and PC including cross saves
Definitely one of the more pro-consumer features on the market ???????? pic.twitter.com/8PEnGSZkIc

Starfield’s page on the Xbox Store now has the Xbox Play Anywhere tag. Note that this only applies to digital copies.
The inclusion of Xbox Play Anywhere was actually confirmed by Bethesda two months ago in a since-deleted Tweet, as noted on the r/XboxSeriesX subreddit. Though many first-party Xbox titles have this feature, not all do, so its inclusion in Starfield is a nice bonus for those looking to buy the game. Starfield will also of course be a day one Xbox Game Pass release.
