new spotify AI playlist

Spotify’s first AI-powered feature, AI Playlist, quickly lists out a series of songs that match the vibe of your prompt, allows you to preview or remove them, and finally create a playlist. At its core, the idea is simple and effective!

At present, the AI Playlist feature is not available to all. It has only been rolled out in the United Kingdom and Australia. Besides, since AI Playlist is in the Beta phase, we didn’t have high expectations from it. But as it turns out, we were wrong!

What we liked the most was the ability to refine the initially generated playlist. For instance, quick follow-up prompts like more pop or less upbeat will revise the generated list of tracks instead of creating a new one altogether. These are just two examples. Find out more to quickly and effectively refine playlists.

Spotify has confirmed that there will be improvements in the final version at the time of public release, but even in its initial state, AI Playlist is great. The official blog post reads,

You can use prompts that reference places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, even emojis. The most successful playlists are generated with prompts that contain a combination of genres, moods, artists, or decades. It’s a brand-new tool, and still in beta, so we’ll continue to iterate and innovate on the experience. Stay tuned for what’s to come!

Considering its early stage, the only thing AI Playlist lacks at the moment is support for non-music prompts. For instance, if I want to create a playlist based on recent events, it’s not possible.

Besides, you may have trouble getting the best results from Spotify’s AI Playlist in the first few attempts or maybe for a day or so, but once you get the hang of the prompts, it will be a seamless experience. And you will be able to create a refined playlist in no time!

Spotify has been in the news for the last few months. An update for Spotify Desktop introduced the Jam feature, while there were also concerns about Spotify’s high data usage.
