1. Reinstall Start Menu/Cortana

  1. Press Windows Key + S, and enter powershell. Choose Run as administrator.

    2. Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  3. After the commands are executed, restart your PC.

2. Perform SFC and DISM scan

Tile Database is corrupted can appear due to file corruption, but you can fix that by performing SFC and DISM scans.

To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Start Command Prompt or PowerShell as administrator.
  2. Now enter sfc /scannow and press Enter to run it.

If the issue is still there or if you can’t start SFC scan, do the following:

  1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  2. Enter DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.

  3. Once the scan is finished, check if the issue is still there. Alternatively, you can try running SFC scan again, if you weren’t able to do that before.

3. Create a new user account

  1. Open the Settings app and navigate to the Accounts
  2. Select Family & other people in the left pane. In the right pane, click on Add someone else to this PC.
  3. Now select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information > Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  4. Enter the username and password for the new account.

  5. After creating a new user account, switch to it and check if the problem is still there.

4. Perform an in-place upgrade

  1. Download Media Creation Tool and start it.
  2. Once you start the tool, accept terms of service and select Upgrade this PC now.
  3. Wait while the setup prepares the necessary files.
  4. Click on Change how Windows Setup downloads updates and select Not right now.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen until you reach Ready to install Select Change what to keep.
  6. Make sure to select Keep personal files and apps and click Next.
  7. Wait for the installation to finish.

Once the process is completed, you’ll have a fresh installation of Windows 10, with all your files intact, and the issue should be gone.
