Windows 10 21H2 reached end of service so Microsoft updates it to 22H2

Microsoft recently issued the June Patch Tuesday security updates, including the KB503921, KB5039217, KB5039214 and KB5039225 for Windows 10. However, the Redmond giant warned the Windows 10 21H2 users that those are the last security updates for the version as it just reached the end of service.

However, Microsoft wants to protect your systems whether you want it or not, with an automatic feature update, as written in their announcement board:

To help keep you protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically initiate a feature update for Windows 10 business devices not managed by IT departments when these are at, or within several months of reaching, end of servicing. Moving to Windows 10, version 22H2 keeps your device supported and receiving monthly updates that are critical to security and ecosystem health.

So, of course, you can still block the updates and stay on Windows 10 21H2, but you will have to deal with the potential security risks on your own. You might do just that if your PC is not compatible with Windows 22H2. Otherwise, we recommend updating your OS as soon as possible, even all the way to Windows 11. After all, Microsoft just recognized that Windows 11 shares 99.7% of Windows 10’s DNA.

Moreover, Microsoft has reiterated the distinctions between LTSC and non-LTSC by confirming that Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC 2021 will retain mainstream backing until January of 2027, while the latter will enjoy an extended end support timeframe scheduled for the year 2032.
