Windows 10

It’s that time again, Windows Insiders have made their voices heard with regards to the future of Windows 10 development. And what is the most requested feature this time around? A larger tile size, or ‘extra large’ to be precise, as Windows Insider “MichaelJ” puts it over at UserVoice,

“it’s very easy for you guys to implement such one more Size, it’s just an 3×2 Medium Tiles, so it’s compatible perfectly with the new Windows 10 Scalable “Start Screen to Start Menu” Tiles grid layout:

Dear Windows Team, you don’t have to rewrite Windows Apps for this, neither third-parties too. just implement the Size and the developers will use it for all their new Windows 10 Apps and Games. and I’m sure all the current Windows Apps will benefit from it in the future when they need to be updated. over time we will have almost all of the Windows Apps have this new Size.

little clarification for any voter who may wonder about the gaps in the second Screenshot: I made every single “Extra large Tile” to act like a Standalone group, just for a clear look purpose, and to show you guys what you can do with the new Windows 10 Tiles Grid, for example imagine if we have a Dreamscene on the Desktop and you can see it play on your Start Screen too, this new grid layout will be perfect for such scenario (I tested this using the latest Stardock Deskscapes) and man! it’s so beautiful!!!
anyway you can always make them stack together Just like any other size:”

MichaelJ mocked up how the new tiles might look:

With a great deal of the appeal behind Windows 10 lying in the enormous customizability offered to the end user, and the relative ease with which this could likely be implemented, there’s a chance Microsoft could consider the request (especially given that it has 1,032 votes at the time of writing).

Would you like to see an extra large tile size implemented in the next build of Windows 10? What other features would you like to see added? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and let Microsoft know what you would like at UserVoice.
