New Electron-based Facebook Messenger app starts rolling out on Windows 10 Microsoft Store

Facebook looks to be updating its Messenger app on Windows 10. Users of the Beta version of the app are reportedly receiving an update that adds several new features to the app, but more importantly, it makes the app Electron-based.

Facebook Messenger Desktop (Beta) v290.12.113.0 rolling out through the @MicrosoftStore, change log:

Windows 10 could soon split Feature Experience updates, delivered via an app, from the core OS

Windows 10 engineers could be putting in place the building blocks for making Windows 10 more modular, allowing shell feature updates to be done independently of the core OS, allowing more updates to be pushed out.
