Windows 11 Beta Update KB5074177 Adds Built-In Sysmon and New Fixes

Microsoft continues its fast-paced Insider rollout. Shortly after KB5074169 landed in the Beta Channel, the company has now released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7752 (KB5074177) for testers enrolled in the Beta Channel.

The new build targets Windows 11 version 25H2 and arrives through an enablement package. As with recent Beta releases, all new features and fixes require the optional toggle to be turned on.

Windows 11 KB5074177 introduces built-in Sysmon

One of the biggest changes in this build is the introduction of built-in Sysmon, marking a major shift for advanced system monitoring on Windows.

Sysmon now ships directly with Windows and no longer requires a separate download. It allows users and administrators to capture detailed system events for threat detection using custom configuration files. All collected data writes directly to the Windows Event Log, making it easier to integrate with existing security and monitoring tools.

By default, Sysmon stays disabled. Users must enable it manually, and anyone with a standalone Sysmon installation must remove it first.

How to enable built-in Sysmon

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to System
  3. Select Optional features

  4. Click More Windows features

  5. Check Sysmon

Alternatively, use the command line or PowerShell:

Dism /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:Sysmon

After enabling the feature, complete the setup by running:

sysmon -i

Voice Access expands with Netherlands language support

This build also expands Voice Access functionality by adding support for the Netherlands locale, continuing Microsoft’s gradual rollout of accessibility features across more languages and regions.

Fixes included in build 26220.7752

All fixes in this update also require the optional toggle to be enabled.

File Explorer fixes

  • Improved keyboard navigation and access key behavior for better accessibility
  • Fixed issues when renaming folders with custom names
  • Restored missing icons and tooltips for Add to favorites

General system fixes

  • Fixed app freezes when working with files stored on OneDrive or Dropbox
  • Resolved hangs and reload issues in some Outlook setups using PST files stored on OneDrive

Microsoft continues to warn testers to proceed carefully. Recent reports tied to KB5074169 mention camera malfunctions and lock screen issues, and similar problems can surface with newer Insider builds.

As always, Beta Channel updates can introduce instability, especially on primary devices.

Looking ahead, signs suggest Microsoft may be planning to step back from pushing new AI features in Windows 11, at least in the near term. While the company has heavily invested in AI across its ecosystem, recent Insider builds focus more on system reliability, security tooling, and accessibility rather than headline AI additions.

More clarity should emerge as Windows 11 version 25H2 continues to take shape through upcoming Insider releases.
