Windows Holographic version 20H2 brings auto eye positioning and more to HoloLens 2 users

Microsoft has announced the rollout of Windows Holographic version 20H2. Now available via Windows Update, the release brings some new features to HoloLens 2 and HoloLens headsets, including auto eye positioning, a certificate manager in settings, and improved Kiosk Mode functionality.

With the new auto eye position support, HoloLens 2 will now actively compute eye positions without users going through Eye Tracking calibration. In addition, the certificate manager allows new simpler methods to install and remove certificates from the Settings app. Some of the other changes can be seen below, and the full list is available at Microsoft here.

  • Provisioning packages on USB drives now automatically prompt the provisioning page in OOBE.
  • Provisioning packages are automatically are now applied during OOBE from the provisioning page.
  • You can now use autopilot from device Wi-Fi without need for ethernet adapter
  • Kiosk mode failure now has restrictive fallback.
  • A new policy allows users to uses group membership cache to use Kiosk mode offline for set number of days.
  • MRC recordings are no longer capped to 5 minutes
  • You can now use research mode in HoloLens 2
  • Newly enabled policies allowi control of updates
  • Newly supported policies allow for power timeout settings
  • You can now set an application to launch automatically when signing into a multiple-app kiosk mode.

Once available for download, users should see that Windows Holographic version 20H2 will appear as a monthly update to Windows Update. The build number will remain the same, and Windows Update will show a monthly release to version 2004, build 19041. More information on how to download the update is available here.
