Microsoft has made it easier for parents to monitor their children’s gameplay time with the Xbox Family Settings app, now generally available on Android and iOS. In May 2020, Microsoft quietly released the Xbox Family Settings app in preview on Android.

Here’s a video look at how the Family Settings app works on Android and iOS.

As noted in a post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft adopted user feedback from the Android preview to implement three new features to the app on Android and iOS:

1. Accept or decline friends your child wants to add.
2. View and manage your child’s friends list.
3. Proactively grant your child more screen time.

The Xbox Family Settings app helps parents monitor their children’s Xbox activity without interfering with their gameplay. Once a child account is set up, parents can set screen time limits, game content limits, as well as play and communication settings. You can view your child’s friends list and actively approve and decline friend requests directly from your phone. There is also an option to get activity reports to view your child’s daily and weekly time on Xbox.
