Xbox Insider Alpha Skip-Ahead - No Copilot Chat, Outlook, Teams, and Games on Edge

Recently, a new Xbox Update Preview was released for the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring(2408.240311-2200). The update introduces changes to Microsoft Edge on the Xbox.

The Redmond tech giant is removing all first-party hub apps like Outlook, Copilot, Teams, and Games to make it lighter and yield better performance. Furthermore, the ability to add websites to the sidebar and the section in Settings has also been removed while the shopping and browser essentials features are still present. A small group of Xbox users is currently testing the change.

With this update, there are other fixes and improvements to features like Capture & Share, which was introduced with the Alpha Skip-Ahead 2408.240306-2200 update.

The update also addresses errors when reviewing recent captures or transferring content, checking subscriptions in Settings, and translating across the console.

Here are the System Update Details mentioned in the Xbox Wire post,

  • OS Version: XB_FLT_2408GE\26080.1502.240311-2200
  • Available: 2 p.m. PT – March 13, 2024
  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – March 14, 2024

The update also listed known issues of audio and networking, along with their workaround and troubleshooting methods.

The Alpha Skip-Ahead ring on Xbox is an exclusive testing group; you need to enroll to get the pre-release versions. As these builds might be prone to errors, Microsoft keeps it invite-only.

However, if you are interested in joining the group, go to Xbox Insider Hub> Activities > Available > Joining new rings from your console, then complete the survey.

The Xbox Wire post also encouraged Xbox Insiders to visit the community subreddit if they need any support.

The post also mentioned using Report a Problem to mention the issue, which could help the Xbox staff understand the issue.
