Microsoft is “hard at work on E3” this year, according to Xbox head Phil Spencer in a Tweet. This comes as Sony has just announced that it won’t be attending E3 for the second time in a row. “We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year,” said a Sony spokesperson to GamesIndustry.biz.
Our team is hard at work on E3, we look forward to sharing with all who love to play what's ahead for us. Our artform has consistently been propelled by the cross-section of creativity and technical progress. 2020 is a milestone year in that journey for Team Xbox. #XboxE3 #E32020

To be clear, while the Redmond tech giant does plan to offer plenty of announcements for E3, it isn’t expected to be attending the event directly. Instead, the company will likely have its own venue near it, just as it did last year at The Microsoft Theater and the Xbox Plaza at LA Live. While we’re still not sure what the team has in store for us this year, this could be the best chance to announce more details of the upcoming Xbox Series X that is expected to ship during the holidays.
Will you be in LA for E3 this year? What are you most excited for? Feel free to share your thoughts and plans below.
