IO Interactive has announced a delay for 007 First Light, pushing the game’s release back by two months. The upcoming James Bond title is now set to launch on May 27, 2026, according to a new update shared by the studio.

In the statement, IO Interactive described 007 First Light as its most ambitious project to date, confirming that the team decided to ensure the game meets quality expectations at launch. While delays are never ideal, the studio says the extra development time will be used to further polish and refine the overall experience.

According to IO Interactive, the game is already fully playable from start to finish, with core systems and content in place. The additional months are intended to improve performance, fine-tune gameplay elements, and deliver the best version version on day one.

007 First Light aims to deliver a full-scale James Bond experience, combining globe-trotting locations, action-heavy sequences, spycraft, gadgets, and cinematic set pieces. As an independent developer and publisher, IO Interactive noted that delaying the release gives the team greater flexibility to hit its internal quality bar without compromise.

The studio also emphasized that development is progressing well and expressed confidence that the delay will benefit the game’s long-term success. IO Interactive thanked players for their patience and continued support since the project was first revealed.

No new gameplay footage or feature details were shared alongside the announcement. However, IO Interactive confirmed that more updates on 007 First Light will be revealed in early 2026, suggesting a renewed marketing push closer to launch.
