Starfield’s pre-install has gone live exactly two months before the game’s release. This means gamers on Xbox Series X|S can download the game right now—or rather, a placeholder for it. The pre-install is roughly 314MB (the full game will be a 125GB download), and has drawn the amusement of fans online as seen in the r/XboxSeriesX subreddit. Here’s what a few of them had to say,

Meanwhile, some have been quick to jump on the “pre-install,” which again is really just a placeholder file. No doubt the full pre-installation will come sometime sooner to Starfield’s September 6 release.
As one user reported, the initial pre-install for the upcoming Forza Motorsport has also become available. That game’s release is even further out on October 10—a full three months.
