Mortal Kombat 11 is getting cross-play support between Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Mortal Kombat 11 is likely to get cross-play support soon, allowing Xbox One and PS4 players to play head-to-head. As noted in a post on the Mortal Kombat FAQ page, the game developers are working on a way to bring “Xbox One and PS4 players into the same matchmaking pool for Online Kasual game modes.”

Here’s a look at how cross-play (dubbed KrossPlay in Mortal Kombat 11) will work :

• Whenever players are in matchmaking in Online Kasual modes, the game will now look for the best match across prospective PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.
• Designated Krossplay Online Rooms will provide a central location for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players to manually meet up and fight against other players on opposite platforms in Online Kasual game modes. Please note, friends on opposite platforms will need coordinate outside of the game ecosystem, then meet up in a specific Krossplay Online Room to play against each other.

As far as Mortal Kombat 11 players playing beyond Xbox One and PS4 consoles, there are no plans to extend cross-play to Windows 10 PC, Nintendo Switch, or Google Stadia. No word yet on the exact date that cross-play will be available, so stay tuned.
