Microsoft’s Surface Neo and Duo aren’t set for release until Holiday 2020, but that doesn’t mean there’s no reason to hype the products up. Recently, both Satya Nadella and Panos Panay were seen showcasing the Surface Neo and Duo.
The most interesting of these moments comes from Surface Chief Panos Pany. Over on his Instagram, Panay showcased the desk and workspace of the Head of Quality over at the Surface team. Obviously, the post reveals how he’s using the Surface Hub 2S as a desktop display, which appears to be a new use case. However, if you look close enough, you can see both the Surface Neo and the Surface Duo on the far left side of the table. This is one of the first times we’ve seen the device on the desk of an employee internally at Microsoft, though we did see the devices out in the wild during Ignite 2019.
Secondly, there is an older Twitter post from Brian Sozzi, the Editor in Chief at Yahoo Finance. Here, we see that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella himself is showcasing the Surface Duo to him during NRF 2020, the world’s largest retail conference and expo. Nadella is one of the keynote speakers there, but he also seems happy to showcase the Surface Duo, which Sozzi described as a “darn slick device.” It’s unknown if this is Nadella’s personal Surface Duo, but it is great to see that Microsoft’s own CEO is comfortable enough to show the device out in the public with the press.

Holiday 2020 is still well over 10 months away, but now what Microsoft is showcasing its newest devices, the hype is starting to build up. The company even updated its Android launcher today, to a version that many believe will be powering the Surface Duo, so the release date can’t come soon enough.
