Some well-needed Fluent Design touches were previously being tested in the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar apps with Windows Insiders over the last few weeks. Today Microsoft revealed that the redesigned apps are rolling out to the desktops of all Windows 10 users on the Production Ring.
The version 17.8700.40485.0 update completely revamps the Windows 10 Mail and Calendar apps, adding in a clean and concise look throughout the experience. There are now acrylic and reveal effects on the hamburger menu of the apps, and a touch of light as you hover over items in the list. Finally, there’s also a new boardless user interface, allowing content to extend to the uppermost portions of the window.
Some other new features were noted by Microsoft in the changelog for the update, including hundreds of new colors to brighten up your calendars. It’s great to see that Fluent Design is spreading to more and more apps in Windows 10. If the recent leaks about the Settings app hold up to be true, Windows 10 might as well look completely revamped once Redstone 4 is released.
