Microsoft has started testing a new Pin to Start Menu option on Microsoft Edge Canary, allowing users to pin sites to the Start menu for quick access. As Leopeva64-2 noticed, the experimental feature is currently available for some Insiders running the latest Canary build (87.0.662.0) of Microsoft Edge.
As a reminder, the Pin to Start Menu option was one of the nifty features available in the old Edge. The latest addition is a step towards making the switch from the browser’s legacy build to the new Edge seamless for users. The current implementation of this new capability is a pretty straightforward process, and it requires merely a couple of clicks. To pin your favorite sites to the Start Menu, follow the steps listed below:
- Navigate to the ellipsis menu, click “More tools,” and then select the Pin to Start option from the list.
- Now, enter a name to appear as the Start menu tile on the Pin to Start dialog box.
- Finally, click “Yes” to confirm the operation (when prompted).
- You may need to wait for a couple of seconds to see a new tile (containing your pinned website) in the Start menu.
The new Pin to Start Menu feature is a welcome change for users who rely on the Start menu for almost everything they do on Windows 10. Needless to say, having quick access to a couple of frequently used websites can save them some time and frustration. Keep in mind that the functionality is exclusively available in the latest Canary build, but it should soon make its way to the Dev channel.
