Windows is always evolving, and Microsoft is frequently testing new features in the Insiders program.

Speaking of which, a new build has been released to the Canary channels and it brings some changes related to the AI.

AI component updates have landed in the Update history section

Windows 11 Build 26217 is rolling out to the Canary channel, and with Microsoft focusing more on AI, it’s no surprise to see more AI-related features included.

An X user, PhantomOcean3 has spotted a new option in Windows Update called AI component updates.

As Windows Latest reports, using this option we should be able to see and manage updates for AI components, similarly to the security updates.

That’s not all, as musupdatehandlers2.dll.mui has references to the AI component updates, but this doesn’t reveal any additional information about this feature.

Currently, this page doesn’t show anything since AI components aren’t being updated, but that will change in the future.

This isn’t the only reference to AI in this build, and there’s a new AIHost.exe that is associated with Screen understanding and AIX.

There are also AIXLib\AIXLib.lib and ContextEngineLib.lib files that are associated with the upcoming AI Explorer.

We’re glad to see Windows 11 is getting new features, but for now, the AI components updates section works as a placeholder, but we’re sure Microsoft will put it to good use soon.

This isn’t the only new setting, and new Recall and snapshots settings were spotted in Build 26212. Microsoft is also working on an AI cooler pad that will optimize the cooling of its devices.
