Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 mistakenly announced earlier by Microsoft

In an unexpected happening that has the gaming community talking, Microsoft appears to have released the cat from its bag a bit earlier than anticipated. People using Xbox Game Pass app – both fans of iPhone and Android – got a message that must have been intended as secret for more time. The statement was straightforward: Just announced: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass on day one later this year! This small mistake has started a storm of guessing and excitement.

This is definitely a mistake because according to The Verge, the announcement links to a page that doesn’t exist yet. However, that might also be used in the future as an incentive to get the Xbox Game Pass premium account and get the newest scoop about game launches hours earlier before everyone else.

The leak has come out at an interesting time, with discussions and arguments about the Xbox and Activision Blizzard merger still happening. A main focus of these talks is whether Call of Duty in Game Pass could give Xbox an unfair boost in the console wars. Sony especially has raised worries on how this might affect competition between different gaming systems.

Now, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 game official reveal is set to happen in a presentation that lasts for an hour, following the June Xbox Showcase event. This will provide fans with their initial and detailed glimpse into what is coming next.

If you’re on the edge of your seat, you can also watch Activision’s Black Ops 6: ‘The Truth Lies’ – Live Action Reveal Trailer today, at 10AM ET / 7AM PT.
