Call of Duty Black Ops 6 won't require a new Xbox Game Pass tier

After months of rumors, speculation, and accidental leaks, Microsoft finally confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on day one on Xbox Game Pass. Also, if you are already a subscriber, there’s pretty good news for you.

As per the latest report, you don’t have to spend extra money as Microsoft won’t announce any new Game Pass tier specifically for the title. Therefore, you can enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 worry-free as it releases day one on Game Pass.

Microsoft won’t hide Black Ops 6 behind a new Xbox Game Pass tier

In a statement to Eurogamer and Geoff Keighley, a Microsoft spokesperson said the upcoming Call of Duty 2024 game will be available on Xbox and PC for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass for Console members.

Looks like one tier (Game Pass Core) is missing in there, right? Well, that’s evident since it doesn’t include major titles available in the subscription’s games library.

Geoff Keighley even tweeted that the Game Pass tier won’t be seeing any price hikes for now. Earlier renowned industry insider Tom Warren in his last month’s report for The Verge wrote that Microsoft could beef up the price for Game Pass. He was pretty specific about one tier i.e. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

However, the latest report suggests that it won’t be happening for the time being. Elsewhere, there were rumors about Microsoft planning to launch a brand-new Game Pass tier which was said to feature ads. So, it is safe to assume that the said report doesn’t go hand-in-hand if we consider Activision titles specifically.

That said, Microsoft could make some changes to the Xbox Game Pass. And, it could be a tier-specific price hike but it is not happening any time soon. It is quite possible that Microsoft could introduce some changes later down the line.

Overall, the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launching on Xbox Game Pass day one will go down as one of the highlights of 2024 for Xbox gamers.
