Microsoft fixed the taskbar issue in Windows 11 KB5037853

If you’ve followed some of the latest update developments, you know that Microsoft acknowledged Windows 11 KB5037853 to cause some weird taskbar issues. For some, it was going haywire and glitching up; vanishing unexpectedly; or simply becoming unresponsive when clicked upon.

Just restart your computer to fix the taskbar issue

Microsoft applied a method known as Known Issue Rollback to solve this issue. This means they can correct problems from afar, and you won’t need to take any drastic actions like removing updates. If you are only a usual user, then no action is required from your side at all. The fix should self-apply, but it may require up to 24 hours to take effect. If you’re becoming restless, a restart could hasten the process.

Now, for the IT admins, there is a bit more work. Microsoft has made available specific group policies to tackle the taskbar matter on managed computers. Here’s what you need to do:

IT administrators can resolve this issue by installing and configuring the special Group Policy listed below. The special Group Policy can be found in Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > <Group Policy name listed below>.

For information on deploying and configuring these special Group Policy, please see How to use Group Policy to deploy a Known Issue Rollback.

Group Policy downloads with Group Policy name:

Microsoft also mentions that you need to install and configure the Group Policy for your version of Windows, and you will also need to restart the machine for the policies to take effect.

So, if you have been battling with your taskbar, the time for relief has hopefully arrived. If you still have Windows 11 taskbar issues, let us know in the comments below.
