Microsoft resumes the rollout of Windows 11, version 24H2 in the Release Preview Channel

Earlier this month, Microsoft quietly paused the rollout of Windows 11 version 24H2 for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. While the Redmond giant never mentioned the reason behind this pause, many assumed that it had to do with the Windows Recall fiasco.

Then, the company promised that it would eventually resume the rollout of Windows 11 version 24H2. So, if you have been eagerly waiting for the rollout to resume, there’s some good news.

Microsoft resumes Windows 11 version 24H2 rollout to the Release Preview Channel

Yesterday, Microsoft dropped a subtle notification update in the original announcement post for Windows 11 24H2 from May 22, 2024. To remind you, the tech giant took the same announcement post to announce the temporary pause earlier this month.

However, Microsoft updated the blog post to inform that it has resumed the rollout. Microsoft mentioned:

UPDATE 6/15: We have resumed the rollout of Windows 11, version 24H2 to the Release Preview Channel with Build 26100.863

Not to forget, Windows 11 Insiders has been quite busy of late, courtesy of several preview builds launched in different channels. The Canary and Dev Channel recently received Build 26236 and 2610.961, respectively.

Notably, the Canary Channel Build introduced the new account manager, whereas, the Dev Channel didn’t receive any major improvements whatsoever. For the Beta Channel, Microsoft dropped Build 22635.3785 bringing Jump Lists to the Start Menu. 

Apart from preview builds for Windows 11, Microsoft rolled out updates for Windows 10 Insiders as well. That includes the KB5039299 update which adds major improvements to Windows Backup and more.  

All that said, if you are willing to update your system to Windows 11 version 24H2, you can do so by enrolling in the Windows Insider Program by going to Settings > Windows Update. Moreover, we expect the public release of Windows 11 24H2 in the Stable Channel lantern this year. 

In other news, Microsoft also announced that it is delaying the controversial Recall feature for the time being. If you can remember, Microsoft earlier said that it would ship Windows Recall on June 18. Nut, that’s not happening anymore. Time will tell when we will see the rollout of this feature, but we expect Microsoft to get things going within this year.
