Microsoft introduced an update for Xbox Insiders that allows them to connect directly to their Discord friends and channels from the Xbox app. The feature is now live on the Alpha Skip-Ahead or Alpha Insider rings.

According to Xbox Wire, connecting your Microsoft and Discord accounts is very easy. After you link them, your buddies from Discord will appear in the Xbox Friends list.

It’s now easier to see when one of your Discord friends is playing, chatting, or streaming, and you can jump into voice chat with them or watch their stream – all on your Xbox console, without having to use the Discord app on PC or mobile.

You can scroll through the list of friends on Xbox, but that’s not all—there is also the ‘Happening Now’ area, where you can find all of your active Discord friends whenever they’re chatting, gaming, or streaming.

Xbox Insiders can stream their play directly to Discord friends from their consoles. The new feature will allow you to see when your friend is streaming, and if you want to join the stream, there will be a ‘View Stream’ option that will take you directly to it.

This merging is not a hasty move from Microsoft. It has been one year since they partnered with Discord, seeking to link console and PC gamers. Although no fixed date is mentioned for when these features will be made available to all Xbox users, it’s evident that the responses received from Insiders will mold the future relationship between Xbox and Discord.

So, what do you say about this?
