Microsoft has announced that it will hold a virtual event, Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2, on September 16 to provide more details about the next phase of the Copilot AI feature. The event will start at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET.
The event will be hosted on LinkedIn, and Microsoft promises that CEO Satya Nadella and Jared Spataro, the corporate vice president of Microsoft 365, will attend to discuss the future of Copilot.
According to the latest reports, Microsoft plans to release a new version of Copilot with a different branding. The event’s title, which Microsoft only partially revealed, suggests that the company will, at the very least, discuss new features for Copilot and the AI-powered Copilot+ PCs that work with Copilot.
Microsoft has already detailed several features in the pipeline for Copilot on the Microsoft 365 roadmap. For instance, Microsoft says it’s planning to add support for generating images in the chat with a version of Copilot for Microsoft 365, a subscription.
While we don’t know what direction Microsoft is planning to take with Copilot, we have some clues: the Redmond-based tech giant might probably want to integrate it even further with Microsoft 365 apps, and in fact, the company launched a version of Copilot for Word, PowerPoint and Excel in a private preview for a small group of users at the end of August.
At Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2, we might better understand when the feature will become more widely available.
