Microsoft Copilot extensions

Microsoft recently integrated its AI-powered productivity assistant, Copilot, into various third-party apps across its ecosystem, including Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. Now, the Redmond-based tech giant is taking the next step by allowing developers to integrate Copilot into their apps through extensions.

In a blog post, the company says this capability will be available to all users with a Copilot license starting mid-September, showcasing an array of advantages of using it.

Several developers have already taken advantage of this functionality, creating new Copilot Extensions for Teams that can help users accomplish even more without leaving their current workflow.

Copilot Extensions can be added to a chat, allowing Teams users to directly access information from apps like Workday, ServiceNow, Box, and Salesforce. The extensions can also help users complete tasks in those apps by suggesting commands in chat.

For example, say you’re chatting with a colleague about an upcoming meeting and want to quickly pull in a few relevant slides from a presentation in Box. A Copilot Extension can help with that, saving you from needing to open Box in another tab or app.

Microsoft says several companies, including Box, ServiceNow, Viva, Creately, Mural, and Miro, are rolling out Copilot Extensions for their apps in Teams today. The Redmond-based tech giant also says that more extensions are in development and will be available soon.

You can read the entire blog post to find out more about them.

What are you hoping to see added to Microsoft Teams through Copilot Extensions?
