After a spell of availability, GOG has announced that it will be delisting the original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II from the store starting December 13, 2024. In a post on the GOG website, the company said the games will be removed from the store next month, but those who have already purchased the games will still be able to download and play them.
GOG’s move to delist the original Warcraft games comes as the retailer has also updated its GOG Preservation Program, a commitment to keep games available even after they’ve been removed from the store.
GOG says that even if a game is no longer available for sale on the platform, the company will continue to maintain and update it. This is a change from the original policy, which noted that games had to be available in the store to be part of the preservation program.
In other words, users who have already bought the original Warcraft games will continue to receive support. GOG offers a discount on the Warcraft I & II Bundle to encourage fans to grab the games before they’re delisted.
At the same time, Blizzard released Warcraft I & II, along with their Remastered versions, last month. The company, which was recently acquired by Microsoft, also updated the buggy Warcraft 3: Reforged, 4 years after its release.
Understandably, Blizzard wants its Battle.net platform to be the hub where gamers can get these classic RTSs.
Using the code “MakeWarcraftLiveForever” at checkout, you’ll get $2 off the $14.99 bundle. The code is valid from now until the delisting date. So, if you’ve considered buying the games, now might be the time.
