Microsoft Edge Hits Major Speed Milestone With Faster Load Times Across Key Features

The browser is finally getting snappier

Microsoft has quietly rolled out a major performance boost to the Edge browser, and it’s a big deal for users. The browser’s interface now hits a global First Contentful Paint (FCP) in under 300ms. That means pages load fast, and key features appear right when you need them.

Edge features now load way faster, including Settings, Read Aloud, and Split Screen

Let’s start with load times. Microsoft says it’s reduced UI delays by 40% across 13 features. The Settings page now opens almost instantly.

The Read Aloud tool launches faster and plays smoother. Split Screen navigation is nearly instant. And if you use Workspaces, switching between tasks now feels seamless and responsive.

Microsoft has also hit the sub-300ms target to improve overall satisfaction. Now, you must be wondering why 300ms?

Well, that’s because research shows people start noticing lag beyond that point. Microsoft set this as a hard goal, and now Edge is delivering snappy performance across its most-used tools. You click, and it responds instantly.

More upgrades are on the way, including speed boosts for Print Preview and Extensions

While this round of performance updates is already live, more improvements are coming soon. Microsoft says you can expect faster load times for Print Preview, Extensions, and other core features in the months ahead.

With these updates, Microsoft is making sure Edge doesn’t just feel fast, it is fast. Whether you’re browsing, reading, or working, everything now happens with less delay and more ease. The browser’s getting sharper, quicker, and smoother where it counts.
