Microsoft Adds GPT-5.3 Instant to Copilot Chat and Copilot Studio, Foundry Support Next

GPT-5.3 Instant in Copilot

OpenAI released GPT-5.3 Instant as the successor to GPT-5.2 Instant, and it’s already rolling out everywhere. The new model now serves as the default for all ChatGPT users, replacing GPT-5.2 Instant as the standard “quick” option.

Paid ChatGPT users won’t lose access to the previous model right away. OpenAI will keep GPT-5.2 Instant available for three months under the Legacy Models section, giving subscribers time to compare behavior, outputs, and consistency before the older option disappears.

Microsoft brings GPT-5.3 Instant to Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Foundry

Microsoft confirmed that GPT-5.3 Instant now powers parts of its Copilot ecosystem.

In Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, the model shows up as “GPT-5.3 Quick response.” In Copilot Studio, it appears as “GPT-5.3 Chat,” aligning the naming with where users build and deploy custom Copilot experiences.

Microsoft will also make GPT-5.3 Instant available through Microsoft Foundry APIs, which should let developers and enterprises build AI features and apps on top of the model across internal tools and workflows.

Microsoft highlights enterprise-focused upgrades

Microsoft positioned GPT-5.3 Instant as a practical upgrade focused on real usage, especially in workplace settings:

  • Proportionate Safety aims to reduce unnecessary refusals while keeping responses balanced.
  • Adaptive Guidance can adjust a request that needs changes and keep the conversation moving.
  • Grounded Resolution uses integrated web search and reasoning to provide clearer answers rather than dumping link lists.
  • Reliable Performance targets steadier tone, clearer explanations, stronger instruction following, and less need for manual cleanup.

Microsoft said paid Microsoft 365 Copilot users get priority access, while free users receive standard access.

Updated Thinking and Pro models land next

OpenAI also confirmed that updated Thinking and Pro models are coming soon. Microsoft expects those upgraded models to integrate into Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot as well, which points to continued alignment between OpenAI’s newest model tiers and Microsoft’s AI product stack.

Outside of OpenAI and Microsoft, Meta is testing AI Shopping Research, while Anthropic is rolling out Claude Memory Free, signaling more competition around personalization and commerce-focused AI features.
