ChatGPT Gets Intelligent UI With GPT-6 That Makes Answers More Visual and Interactive

OpenAI has officially brought GPT-6 to ChatGPT, and this time the company is changing more than the model behind the chatbot. GPT-6 introduces Intelligent UI, which allows ChatGPT to generate interactive interfaces, visuals, charts, forms and even small tools directly inside conversations.

GPT-6 can now build the interface around your question

With Intelligent UI, ChatGPT can decide how an answer should be presented based on what the user is asking. A comparison could appear side by side, while a complex explanation could use an interactive diagram instead of a wall of text.

Users can also ask ChatGPT to create things they can actually interact with, including calculators, bill splitters and games. The interface can include tappable buttons, forms, charts and other interactive elements.

OpenAI says it built a library of native, streamable components and a compiler that allows these interfaces to appear progressively as GPT-6 generates them. The company also trained the model to decide when interactivity is useful and when a simple text response is the better option.

GPT-6 also starts answering while it thinks

The new model is not only about making ChatGPT more visual. OpenAI says GPT-6 can start answering while it continues thinking or using tools, allowing users to start reading before the complete response is ready.

According to OpenAI’s internal testing, GPT-6 Instant starts answering questions that require web search 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant. OpenAI also says GPT-6 performed better on its difficult web-search evaluation.

The safety side has also been updated, with OpenAI saying GPT-6 is better at resisting attempts to bypass its safeguards and has been trained against risks involving cyberattacks, biological threats and violence.

Intelligent UI is rolling out to ChatGPT users

GPT-6 with Intelligent UI started rolling out globally on October 7 to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users in ChatGPT. The rollout expands to Free and Go users on October 8. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. OpenAI says Intelligent UI is currently part of the Chat experience. The models powering Work and Codex are not changing with this release.
