Microsoft Reportedly Starts Rebranding "Xbox Full Screen Experience" to "Xbox mode"
At this year’s GDC, Microsoft, alongside confirming Project Helix, also announced that the “Xbox mode” will roll out on Windows 11 in April in select markets.
At the time, the company noted that the feature would give players a familiar full-screen and controller-optimized Xbox experience while embracing the openness of Windows. In simpler words, it meant that you can switch effortlessly between productivity tasks and gaming on your Windows PCs.
Ahead of the rollout next month, Microsoft has reportedly started replacing the “Xbox Full Screen Experience” label with “Xbox Mode” inside the Xbox app. The news comes via Videocardz, which spotted a post on X by user @ROGAllyLife, who posted a screenshot of the Xbox app featuring the Xbox mode label at the top right. To catch you up, with Xbox mode, players can access all the titles across devices, whether through purchases, subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass, or from other leading storefronts. Microsoft then said that the integration would work with Xbox Play Anywhere.
That also means progress, saves, and purchases carry over seamlessly between PC and console. Therefore, players no longer need to repurchase games or worry about losing hours of gameplay. The idea here is to deliver a console-like experience while still allowing players to jump back into Windows when needed.
