Dell SupportAssist Update Reportedly Causing BSOD and Reboot Loops on Windows 11 PCs

Removing SupportAssist stops the crashes

Dell users are reportedly experiencing repeated Blue Screens of Death and random reboot loops after a recent update tied to Dell SupportAssist software. According to reports highlighted by Neowin, some affected users initially believed a broken Windows 11 update caused the issue.

The crashes reportedly include frequent BSODs, kernel power critical errors, and unexpected restarts. Some users claim their systems crash roughly every 30 minutes, making affected PCs difficult to use reliably.

Community members investigating the problem reportedly analyzed crash dumps with WinDbg and traced the failures back to Dell SupportAssist-related services. Several users said uninstalling SupportAssist, SupportAssist Remediation, and the OS Recovery Plugin immediately stopped the crashes.

Users initially blamed Windows 11

Because the failures appeared after recent system updates, many users reportedly assumed Microsoft or Windows Update caused the instability. However, the findings suggest third-party OEM utilities may instead be responsible.

This situation highlights how preinstalled manufacturer software can sometimes trigger major Windows stability issues, including BSODs, boot loops, and even BitLocker recovery prompts.

Dell has not officially responded yet

Dell has not released an official statement about the reported issue so far. Some users speculate the lack of response may relate to reduced weekend support availability.

For now, affected users across community forums continue recommending the removal of Dell SupportAssist components as a temporary workaround until Dell provides a permanent fix.

In other Microsoft-related news, Xbox Mode reportedly still has issues with secondary displays, while Microsoft recently defended its new Windows 11 CPU boost feature amid online criticism.
