Fumito Ueda's New Game 'gen ATLAS' Confirmed for XBOX Series X|S & PS5

Fumito Ueda, the mind behind ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, has officially revealed his next project. During Summer Game Fest 2026, Ueda’s studio announced gen ATLAS, a brand-new open-world action-adventure game that immediately stood out among the event’s biggest reveals.

Ueda’s previous games have long been associated with PlayStation platforms. That’s why gen ATLAS arriving on XBOX marks a notable shift for the acclaimed developer.

The debut trailer offered more questions than answers, but that seems entirely intentional. Players awaken on a deserted planet with no clear explanation of who they are or why they’re there. What follows appears to be a lonely journey across a strange world filled with enormous structures, abandoned facilities, and landscapes that feel both beautiful and unsettling.

Details remain limited for now, and there’s currently no release date attached to gen ATLAS.
