Microsoft Will Remove Surveys Agent From Copilot in August
Microsoft is retiring Surveys Agent, according to MC1421920 in the Message Center, roughly one year after announcing the AI-powered survey tool for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The company will remove it from the Agent Store on August 31, 2026, as it moves the same features directly into Microsoft Forms.
The Surveys Agent will leave the Agent Store
Surveys Agent launched for Frontier customers through Microsoft 365 Copilot after Microsoft announced it in August 2025.
The tool allowed users to create and manage surveys with natural-language prompts, including creating and refining surveys, sending them to selected recipients, reminding participants to submit responses, and exporting survey results to Excel for analysis.
Microsoft now plans to consolidate these features into Microsoft Forms rather than maintain a separate agent.
Copilot features are moving to Microsoft Forms
Microsoft has started integrating Surveys Agent capabilities directly into Forms.
Users can access Copilot through the floating Dynamic Action Button inside the Forms interface. This approach brings survey creation, editing, and management into a single experience.
After August 31, users who attempt to open Surveys Agent will be redirected to the Copilot-powered Microsoft Forms experience.
Existing surveys will remain available
The retirement will not remove content created through Surveys Agent.
Previous conversation history will remain accessible in Microsoft 365 Copilot, while forms created with the agent will continue to appear in Microsoft Forms.
Users will not need to recreate existing surveys or export their content before the retirement date.
No additional license or admin changes required
Microsoft says customers will not need an additional license to access the integrated Copilot capabilities in Forms.
The new experience will remain enabled by default, and IT administrators will not need to change settings or complete additional configuration.
In other news, OpenAI has released GPT-5.6 to the public, and Microsoft has already brought it to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
