Valve Expands Steam Verified with New Steam Machine & SteamOS Ratings
Valve has started displaying dedicated compatibility ratings on Steam Store for both Steam Machine and SteamOS. The new feature, first spotted by folks at GamingOnLinux, will give players a better idea of how games will perform before they hit the install button.
Steam Machine gets its own Verified experience
The new compatibility information is already appearing on the Steam Store and the Steam mobile app. To find it, players need to open a game’s Steam page, scroll to the Steam Deck Compatibility section, and select Learn more. Doing so opens a redesigned compatibility window with separate tabs for Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and SteamOS.

The Steam Machine tab focuses on whether a game delivers a smooth experience using its default settings. It also checks controller compatibility, allowing players to know if a title is ready to play without additional tweaking.
SteamOS, meanwhile, provides a different set of information. Rather than measuring performance alone, it tells players whether a game runs through Proton, Valve’s Windows compatibility layer, and whether an internet connection is required for the initial setup or while playing. That should make it easier for Linux users to understand exactly what they’re getting before making a purchase.
Interestingly, the news outlet also noticed references to a Steam Frame Verified program attached to some games. Valve hasn’t enabled a dedicated interface for those ratings yet, but the discovery suggests the company is continuing to expand its compatibility ecosystem beyond Steam Deck as it prepares for the arrival of new hardware.
Speaking of Steam, let’s not forget that the Valve has confirmed that it’ll fix Steam Machine’s early red temperature warning with a new BIOS update.
