XBOX Adds Handheld Support for 34 More Games

XBOX handheld games expanded again this week, with 34 additional titles receiving official support. Twenty games now carry the handheld-optimized label, while 14 have joined the handheld-compatible category.

The update arrives as 20 new games are coming to the XBOX platform this week, giving players more options across consoles, PCs, and handheld gaming devices.

XBOX Adds Support for 34 Handheld Games

According to TrueAchievements, Microsoft has added handheld classifications to another 34 games.

Handheld-optimized games should provide a smoother experience on supported devices. These titles generally include controller-friendly navigation, readable interface elements, and settings suited to smaller screens.

Handheld-compatible games can also run on these devices, although players may need to adjust graphics, controls, or display settings.

Original XBOX Classics Join the List

Several notable XBOX titles appear in the latest update.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced now carries the handheld-optimized label, while Call of Duty: Vanguard has received handheld-compatible status.

Classic XBOX games also feature prominently. Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Conker: Live and Reloaded can now run on supported handheld hardware under the compatible classification.

The latest handheld update also includes several games available through XBOX Game Pass, expanding the number of subscription titles that players can access on portable devices.

Microsoft’s gaming catalog continues to grow after six games from the XBOX Game Pass August 2026 lineup were confirmed.

However, buyers considering a new console or gaming device may face higher costs. Microsoft has recently raised XBOX prices worldwide, affecting the overall cost of entering the XBOX ecosystem.
