Xbox Series X|S price hike is now in effect worldwide

The day many Xbox fans hoped would never come is finally here. Microsoft’s previously announced console price hike has officially gone into effect. Buying an Xbox now costs noticeably more in several major markets. The new pricing is effective starting today, August 1.

The new, hiked Xbox pricing is officially live

Back in June 2026, Microsoft confirmed it would hike Xbox console prices across multiple regions. The company said the revised pricing would take effect on August 1, giving buyers a few months before the hiked pricing would take effect. Well, that day is here.

Starting today, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles officially cost more across major markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. The changes affect both digital and disc-equipped models, while the Xbox Series X 2TB edition has also been discontinued.

The biggest price hike hits the standard Xbox Series X 1TB. Its price jumped from $649 to $800. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X 1TB Digital Edition now costs $750, up from $599.

The Xbox Series S lineup also sees significant jumps. The 512GB model now sells for $499, compared to $399 previously. Moreover, the 1TB version increases from $449 to $599.
